Alvaro Batista

 

I was born in Panama and have lived in the Bay Area since 1980. I've been dancing most of my life and since 2000 I have been dancing Cuban Salsa and Rueda de Casino as well as been involved in the Cuban music scene in the Bay Area. Along with two partners, we started Añejo Productions and have been promoting this music genre and dance style since 2002 through parties, clubs, concerts and dance classes. I started The Salsa Lab “The Lab” in Oakland in January of 2010 with the goal of introducing the community to Cuban salsa. I like to focus in helping my students develop their skills, style, creativity and appreciation for the art of dancing and music. I love to teach and hope I can pass on the love I have for the music and some of the dance techniques I have learned.
